Competitively priced – two bedroom cottages from £350pw to £650pw and three bedroom cottages from £425pw – £750pw.

Your kids will always find plenty of playmates at the gites – no need to plan each day, just open your door and let them make friends.

Then, when they’ve gone to bed, chill out and share a glass of wine with your fellow guests. You might even persuade Giles to play his ukulele…

Five unique holiday villas

The five holiday homes have two or three bedrooms. Each cottage has been restored combining ancient stone walls, fully fitted kitchens and modern white tiled floors. Click here to see the full range of accommodation available.

Set amid sunflower fields in the tranquil village of Courant, just 10 minutes from the medieval town of St Jean d’Angely, with its numerous restaurants, shops, museums and twice-weekly market.

We are close to the bustling towns of La Rochelle, Rochefort and Cognac, and the sandy beaches of Royan, Chatelaillon and Ile d’Oleron.

Courant is a small village of 300 residents and is surrounded by rolling countryside, sunflower and tobacco fields. Whilst only 90 miles north of Bordeaux, Courant is very accessible by car via any of three north western ports: St Malo in three and a half hours, Caen in five hours and Cherbourg in about five and a half hours.  All these ports operate overnight ferries where you can take a cabin, have a meal and watch a film, enjoy live music and even cabaret acts.  For those coming by Eurostar, Calais is 7 hours away.

There’s loads to discover nearby…

Visit the twice-weekly market in St Jean d’Angély for mouthwatering food and local produce.

Hire bicycles to ride from the medieval town of La Rochelle to the sandy beaches that surround it.

Take a boat out at Port d’Envaux, or swim in the warm, clean water of the river Charente.

Take a boat trip from La Rochelle to see Fort Boyard, on your way to the magical island of Ile d’Aix.

You’ll find a wide range of sandy beaches and sparkling clean sea, whether you want to take a dip or just laze on a lounger.

Lose yourself in the many local street markets, where you can pick up bargains or just browse the antiques and bricabrac on sale.

And there’s plenty to do on site…

Communal barbecues mean you’ll get to know your fellow guests – and share in a saucisson or two.

Try your hand at PipeDream, our truly unique cross between snooker and crazy golf.

With plenty of playmates on hand, your kids are sure to have the holiday of a lifetime.

A unique holiday experience

Where else could you time your day with a sundial visible from the comfort of your pool lounger?

Or a life-size crocodile that snaps its jaws when the gate to the pool area is opened?

Or a hand-drawn map showing everything you’ll need to find in Saint Jean d’Angély?

Or a host who can sometimes be persuaded to put on a Punch and Judy show?

Tailor-made for your kids

French Family Gites offers everything your kids need for a great, fun-filled holiday – and that means you get the space to relax while they’re enjoying themselves.
