Courant is a typical French village contructed of white stone set in the heart of agricultural countryside. There are deserted farm tracks to amble and cycle along and if you're quiet enough you are likely to encounter deer, rabbits, hare, snakes and the odd impressive bird of prey.

The village fans out from the church, the full sized football picth and petanque area. It has two village halls from which there are regular functions particularly Bastille Day, 14th July when there is an alarmingly expensive (if you pay local taxes) firework display. Despite a population of only three hundred it has a hearty mayor, Roland Nazet with whom it has been socially encumbent on me to consume industrial quantities of whisky.

Although Courant is a rural village we are only a short trip to St Jean d'Angely and only ten minutes to the A10, running from Paris to Bordeaux.
